Caricatures at Eid Festival

October 4th I drew caricatures at a festival. There was face painting, a balloon twister, lively music and me doing caricatures! They were celebrating Eid al-Adha, known as the Feast of Sacrifice or the Greater Eid, and is one of the two most important celebrations in the Muslim calendar.

The event was over and I was finishing up drawing caricatures for a family. It finally quiet enough that I could have more of a conversation while drawing. So I asked a bit more about their holiday. I asked their mom, what is the phrase for well wishes for the celebration. We exchanged the greeting “Eid Mubarak”, meaning “blessed Eid”. I tried my best but it sure didn’t roll off my tongue as beautifully as it did hers! So I learned something new that evening!

I had a really good time drawing and was surrounded by kids of all ages excited to get their caricature and watch their friends and/or family being drawn. Here are the caricatures of the nice family I drew at the end of the evening.
